Getting Lost and Exploring

Hollow Knight plunges you into a massive labyrinth. Wander, discover your route, and learn about the story from ruins and NPC dialogue across the globe.

Always prioritize finding the character named Cornifer to buy a map upon arriving at a new area. Then, buy a paintbrush in town to continue drawing the map whenever you rest. This is your lifeline to avoid getting lost.

Combat and Survival

The game's combat revolves around attacking and resource management, making it very engaging.

Attack to Heal

Every time you hit an enemy, you accumulate Energy. You can use this energy to fire spells, or more importantly, stand still and hold the button to heal. Calculating when to attack and when to retreat to heal is key to victory.

Unlock New Skills

Initially, you can only jump and slash. Dash, Wall-Clinging, and Double Jump will come as you go. These skills help you climb and fight.

Charms

The game doesn't have a complex leveling system. Instead, you'll collect Charms. Imagine them as accessories you wear. Before each Boss battle, you can freely change these Charms to find the easiest winning strategy.

Basic Controls

Arrow keys: Move character.

Z: Jump.

X: Slash and attack.

C: Dash to dodge or jump over a chasm.

A: Hold down to heal.

I: Open inventory.

TAB: Open quick map view.
