Have you ever wondered just how big a blue whale is compared to a school bus? Size It Up is a free online game that answers such questions through a unique challenge: estimating the real-world size of objects using only your eyes.

How to play Size It Up

The gameplay is based on a premise that sounds simple but is actually a brain-teaser. In each round, you are given a black silhouette as a reference, and your job is to scale a white shape to best match the real-world proportions. Test your spatial awareness, lock in your answer, and discover how close your estimate is!

With just a few simple actions, you can begin this visual estimation journey.

Observe the reference object

A black silhouette appears on the screen. This object is set to its exact real-world size and scale, complete with specific measurements. Use it as your standard "ruler" for the next step.

Adjust the target size

Next to the reference object is a white silhouette. You need to estimate and adjust the size of this white shape. If the object is too large, don't forget to use the "Zoom out" feature to get a better view for comparison.

Lock In

Once you feel the proportions look right, press the "Lock In" button. The game immediately reveals the actual object inside the silhouette you adjusted, displaying the real measurements, accuracy percentage, and your score for the round.

Complete the challenge series

In "Daily" mode, complete all five comparison rounds. After the final round, the system tallies your score so you can compare your ranking with other players.

Controls

The game is designed to be user-friendly for both PC and mobile players:

Free-form drag: Move the target silhouette to the most convenient spot on the screen.

Corner drag: Press and drag the corners to resize the silhouette.

Pinch: The familiar two-finger zoom gesture for mobile players.

Zoom out: Shrink the entire view to accommodate massive objects.

Tips for Perfect Scores in Size It Up

Consider proportions, not calculations

Instead of crunching dry statistics, look at the reference object and ask yourself: “How many times would the black object fit into the white one?”

Identify known reference positions

Try to picture ordinary objects to form an internal frame of reference.

Beware of things that are really big

Massive (planets or continents) or minuscule objects (insects) can readily deceive your perception.

Observe both length and overall dimensions

Don't look at just one dimension. Compare the width and overall proportions of the object before locking in your choice.
